On selling hobbies
Sometimes I feel like what we call hobbies can be divided into two fundamentally different types.
First type is something that gives us joy, we feel inner tempting to do that. Core of such hobby is process of doing without need to share it with others extensively. In extreme case, it's so process oriented that it doesn't matter what the outcome is - in other words the way is the goal. If result is meaningless for us, we don't feel need to share it, and inner experience of process cannot be shared easily if at all.
Second type comes from outside - social expectations, "sell it to be liked by others" kind of stuff. Sometimes such hobby can be kinda absurd in a way it's more about sharing and less about doing. And it's logical that such hobby has tendency to be constantly shared with others because its origin is not within us.
The tricky part is blurry border between these two types.
